At least five people have been injured in Pakistan's northwestern Bajaur tribal region after over a dozen rockets were fired into the country from neighboring Afghanistan.
The rockets were fired from Kunar Province in Afghanistan and hit a residential unit in a densely populated region in Mamond town of Bajaur tribal region on Sunday, leaving five people injured, including two children, IRIB reported on Monday.
The rocket attack seems to be a response to Pakistan's bombardment of eastern provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar, where NATO forces have withdrawn.
Cross-border rocket attacks have strained the two neighboring states' relations over the past months.
Afghan officials blame Pakistan for targeting Afghanistan's tribal regions, calling on Islamabad to put an end to its rocket attacks on Afghan civilians.
Pakistan, however, says the rocket strikes are in response to what it calls attacks against its territory from Afghanistan.
Afghan border officials say Pakistan's rocket attacks on border areas have forced 200 families to flee the region.
Securing the two countries border regions has become a major challenge for both Kabul and Islamabad with respect to growing militancy in the wake of the alleged killing of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in early May.
